Main Campus Residents' Council - Front Desk Rentals

Overview of the Program

Using your MCRS membership card that you receive at the beginning of the year, you can sign out a number of different materials from any of the four full time font desks: Victoria Hall, Gordon-Brockington Hall, Leggett Hall and Waldron Tower. The collection of materials at each desk varies and generally depends on which buildings the desks are expected to serve (for example, Gordon-Brokington serves the Leonard Field residences whereas Victoria Hall is expected to serve solely itself). Regardless, remember that you can borrow materials from any desk, so if there's a movie you really want to see currently at the Leggett desk, then by all means head on over to Leggett and sign it out.

Each desk generally has collections from each of the following categories (see below for what's currently available at each desk):

  • DVD movies
  • Pool cues, triangles and pool balls
  • Foosballs
  • Ping Pong rackets and balls
  • PlayStation 2s

You can borrow up to three different items at once, from any of the four desks (the three items do not have to be all from the same desk). You are, however, expected to return the items you borrow within a reasonable amount of time. Generally, 24 hours per rental is deemed sufficient. If you fail to return any items you borrowed within a reasonable amount of time, you may receive a phone call, email and/or letter from the MCRC. Consistent infractions, or a single prolonged infraction after having been warned may result in a suspension of your borrowing privileges.

Also note that if you fail to return an item by the end of the year, or continue to keep an item after being warned and having your borrowing privileges suspended, it will be assumed that you wish to keep the item (or that you have lost it). In this case you will be charged the cost of replacing the item (which may also include shipping costs and/or administrative costs). Charging involves giving you a chance to pay the fee using your own means (cash, cheque). If you fail to pay using your own means, the fee will be applied to your Queen's student account. Please note that you are restricted from re-registering with Queen's if you have an outstanding balance on your student account.

Please note that pool cues and foosballs for the game tables at the Lazy Scholar are borrowed directly from the barista and not from the Victoria Hall front desk.
