Main Campus Residents' Council - Membership Card
About the Card
When you first move into residence at the beginning of the year, the Main Campus Residents' Council will issue a unique MCRS Membership card in your name, which includes your name, building, room number and a unique membership ID. Your card will usually be available and sent to you through campus mail within the first few weeks of school. If you did not receive your card and most everyone else has, you should contact the administrator of the membership card program.
The card, on top of validating your membership in the Main Campus Residents' Society, can be used by you to access several services and privileges you have as a member. A list which continues to grow every year.
Current Uses for the Card
Currently, the card has a few important uses, but the MCRC works to expand these uses every year.
Most importantly, the card, along with proper photo identification, proves that you live in residence, more specifically, in the building and room number specified on the card. Thus, you can use your card to prove your residence to any university (or otherwise) official that may ask for it.
The card also gives you access to Front Desk Rentals, which is a service provided by the MCRC that gives you unlimited access to pool cues, pool balls (and other game table equipment) along with movie rentals from the MCRC's extensive DVD collection (you can even borrow a PlayStation 2 and hook it up to your common room TV as a DVD player). All "rentals" are completely free of charge, all we ask is that you return any items your borrow within a reasonable amount of time, generally 24 hours per rental is deemed sufficient.
On the back of the card, you'll also notice a series of boxes with numbers in them (numbers 1 through 12 to be exact). These boxes may be used at certain times throughout the year for events or occasions where you can only attend, or perform some duty once (such as voting).
Finally, the card entitles you access to any corporate partnerships that the MCRC forms with other organizations.
Potential Future Uses for the Card
Although it's hard to predict what the card could be used for in the future, given that it has very few restrictions, there are some general areas where improvement is to be expected. Most notable would be with corporate partnerships, the MCRC is always on the lookout for organizations that could partner up with the MCRC and provide a mutual benefit for both the organization and the MCRS membership. Additionally, the card could be used for any new services the MCRC may wish to launch in the future
Lost Cards and Program Administrator
If you have lost your card or wish to discuss the program, you should contact the program administrator, which is the Vice President (Operations). Please note, a lost card will require a small fee to be replaced.
